Phoenix Attains C-TPAT Validation

Wood Dale, Illinois – March 3, 2005 – U.S. Customs and Border Protection has verified Phoenix International Freight Services, Ltd. to be validated in the C-TPAT program. “It is evident that Phoenix International is dedicated and committed in making their supply chain as secure as possible. This level of commitment is one that US Customs and Border Protection is seeking in companies that are participating in the C-TPAT program, and I believe that the level of commitment displayed by Phoenix International toward their supply chain security is one that other companies should model their security after”, said Raymond Monzon Supply Chain Specialist, C-TPAT/Miami Field Office, US Customs and Border Protection.

Phoenix was certified in the C-TPAT program in August of 2003. “Our validation is proof of our compliance with the C-TPAT guidelines and enables our customers to obtain the full benefits of their C-TPAT certification.  Importers that are C-TPAT certified/validated have clearly demonstrated their commitment to securing the international supply chain and are considered lower risk in regards to their importations. Lower risk means fewer examinations and expedited clearance of shipments”, explains Bill Hogan, Phoenix International’s security manager.

“There are more than 8000 companies enrolled in C-TPAT yet only several hundred have been validated so far. Phoenix was selected as a priority for validation due to the high volume of international traffic we handle”, said Hogan.

“Phoenix International Freight Services, Ltd. has done an excellent job of incorporating security into its supply chain.  This CBP validation team found that Phoenix International’s management embraced the C-TPAT program and is enthusiastic in assisting CBP in making their supply chain as secure as possible”, declared Monzon.

Phoenix International Freight Services, Ltd. is the largest privately owned full service international forwarder/NVOCC and Customs broker headquartered in North America. With 51 global offices and a network of exclusive agents around the world, Phoenix generated sales revenue last year of or more than $450 million.
