Phoenix International Earns C-TPAT Certification
Wood Dale, Illinois - September 5, 2003 - Phoenix International
Freight Services, Ltd. is now certified as a participant in the
Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism, a supply chain security
program of the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection.
Stephane Rambaud, president and chief operating officer for Phoenix,
said, "Phoenix is committed to the C-TPAT program and playing
an active role in the war against terrorism. By participating in
this worldwide supply chain security initiative, we will help ensure
a more secure supply chain for our customers."
C-TPAT is a program designed to improve supply chain security through
voluntary cooperation by importers, carriers, and intermediaries.
Certification in the program requires that a company conduct a comprehensive
self-assessment of security measures in exchange for expedited clearance
of international shipments.
"By joining with us in the C-TPAT program, Phoenix International
Freight Services, Ltd. is contributing to the security of our borders
and the continued free flow of international trade," said Jayson
P. Ahern, assistant commissioner in CBP's office of field operations.
"The participation of Phoenix and others from the broker and
consolidator communities is but a first important step in what promises
to be a sustained effort to meet the challenge posed by the terrorist
threat to the United States."
