Phoenix Pursues C-TPAT Membership

Wood Dale, Illinois - November 11, 2002 - Phoenix Intl. Freight Services, Ltd. is examining all aspects of C-TPAT (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism). Procedure manuals are being written for all departments - brokerage, warehouse, freight forwarding, and NVOCC operations - and training classes are being implemented to educate personnel as to their security role. Phoenix Compliance staff members attended authorized C-TPAT seminars.

C-TPAT is a joint government-business initiative to build cooperative relationships that strengthen overall supply chain and border security. It recognizes that Customs can provide the highest level of security only through close cooperation with the ultimate owners of the supply chain - importers, carriers, brokers, warehouse operators and manufacturers. Through this initiative, Customs is asking businesses to ensure the integrity of their security practices and communicate their security guidelines to their business partners within the supply chain.

Members of Phoenix's Compliance staff, import and export, are well-versed in C-TPAT requirements including security recommendations/guidelines, security profile questionnaire, and agreement letters.

C-TPAT offers businesses an opportunity to play an active role in the war against terrorism. By participating in this first worldwide supply chain security initiative, Phoenix Intl. Freight Services, Ltd. will help ensure a more secure supply chain for its customers, their suppliers and the vendors they work with.
